Duchesse De Bourgogne – Verhaeghe

Nose: sour. Belgian old brown. Balsamic vinegar, stale sherry and some grainy notes. Smells a bit off. I know this is part of the style, but even for an Oud Bruin this smells like its spent a bit too long in the cask.
Mouth: we recently brewed a batch of Weizen-Bock that didn’t ferment properly, and this tastes just like it. It’s saved by a rich, woody rancio flavour.
Finish: medium long and dry. Stale sherry.
