Oude Geuze Boon – 2011

Nose: sour, beefy. Spareribs marinating in champagne. Very un-beerish, but that’s the overall style. I was hoping for some more depth and complexity.
Mouth: sour, drying, funky. The casks weren’t very active. I didn’t think I would ever say this, but this beer could really do with some more sweetness. It has the same kind of funkyness as Orval, but the overall profile is that of champagne, and not of beer.
Finish: rather short and dry.

Rating: 40-60 out of 10
